HVAC Controls Specialist Badge

Description

The HVAC Controls Specialist badge exam tests your knowledge of the functionality of basic thermostats, including basic wiring, programming, and basic safety and troubleshooting procedures. 

Objectives 

• Evaluate the needs of customers to guide them in purchasing the most appropriate type of thermostat for their application, HVAC system, and preferences.

• Understand how to use thermostat settings, including modes, fan settings, schedules, and other features to help customers create a comfortable living and working space.   

• Demonstrate knowledge of installation steps and safety parameters to follow when installing different types of thermostats.  

• Demonstrate knowledge of types of relays, how relays function in HVAC systems, common applications of relays in HVAC systems, and how to troubleshoot issues with relays. 

• Understand how to wire different types of thermostats for various applications and HVAC systems.
