Description 

The HVAC Smart Controls exam tests your knowledge of the functionality of connected and advanced thermostats, including their features, system compatibility, wiring, and troubleshooting. 

 Objectives 

• Explain and configure connected thermostat features, such as geofencing, managing alerts, and room occupancy sensors.  

• Demonstrate a basic understanding of thermostat integration with IAQ equipment, including wiring and configuring thermostats to maximize system performance and comfort.

• Understand troubleshooting steps for connected thermostats, including WiFi connection issues, problems with geofencing, and improving poor connectivity. ,

• Understand how to wire and configure thermostats for heat pump applications, including auxiliary heat types, reversing valves, heat droop, and lockout.

• Understand how to troubleshoot issues with thermostat operation and heat pump applications. 

• To be eligible to take this exam, you must have earned the HVAC Controls Specialist exam.
